What to expect
Your skin may appear pink or flushed after your session — this is completely normal and is a sign your skin is responding exactly as it should. That inflammatory reaction is a key part of the healing and collagen-building process. Most clients are comfortable returning to their normal routine the following day. You’ll begin noticing improvements in texture and tone from around two weeks post-treatment, with results continuing to build for up to a year after each session.

Is microneedling painful? +
Most clients describe the sensation as a mild prickling or vibrating feeling. At Skinfit we do not use numbing cream — and here’s why. The skin’s inflammatory response is a critical part of what makes microneedling work. That reaction signals your body to produce collagen and helps drive your serum deep into the skin. Numbing cream can block the very channels we’re creating and interfere with that process. Our clients find the treatment very manageable, and we work with you throughout to ensure you’re comfortable.
How many sessions will I need? +
We recommend a course of 4 treatments — this is the protocol we’ve found most effective for real, lasting results. Treatments are spaced one month apart. After your course is complete, we move into maintenance sessions to keep your skin performing at its best.
How long does a session take? +
The treatment itself is 60 minutes. We ask you to allow 75 minutes for your appointment — this gives us time for your pre-treatment consultation and photos beforehand, plus post-treatment advice and care before you head off.
What is the downtime? +
Some redness and mild sensitivity after your session is completely normal — it means your skin is responding and doing exactly what it should. This typically settles within 24–48 hours. We recommend avoiding intense exercise and direct sun exposure during this time.
When will I see results? +
Many clients notice an initial glow and improvement in skin texture within the first couple of weeks. Results continue to build as collagen remodelling progresses — and the effects of each session can last for up to a year. This is why completing the full course of 4 treatments followed by maintenance is so powerful.
Can I wear makeup after my treatment? +
We recommend avoiding makeup for the first 24 hours to allow your skin to breathe and heal. After that, we love Youngblood Mineral Makeup — it’s specifically formulated for post-treatment use, won’t block or clog your pores, and is completely safe while your skin is still in recovery mode. Ask us about it at your appointment!
Is it suitable for my skin type? +
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types. During your consultation we’ll go through any contraindications together and assess your eligibility — so you can feel completely confident before we begin.
How is it different from at-home dermal rollers? +
Honestly, they’re not even in the same category. At-home rollers drag across the skin at a fixed, shallow depth with zero ability to target specific concerns or adjust for different areas of the face. They also harbour bacteria and cannot be properly sterilised between uses — which is genuinely concerning.
